Configuring Mozilla Thunderbird

  1. If this is the first time you have used Thunderbird you can skip to Step 3. as that dialog will automatically open.

  2. Select Tools from the menu bar, and then click on Account settings...



     
  3. Ensure Email account is selected, and then click Next



     
  4. Fill out Your Name and Email Address.

    Your Name is what other people will see as the Sender when you compose an e-mail to them.

    Once that is does, select Next



     
  5. Ensure POP is selected, enter "mail.webinabox.net.au" into Incoming Server and the same into Outgoing Server

    In some cases if you have used Thunderbird before, Outgoing Server will be missing. That is OK, we can check it later.

    Select Next



     
  6. You will need to complete Incoming User Name so that it matches your full e-mail address, for example email@yourdomain.com

    Select Next



     
  7. No changes are needed to Account Name

    Select Next



     
  8. No changes are needed to here, simply confirm all of the details look correct.

    Select Finish



     
  9. You will be prompted for your password, enter it and tick Use Password Manager to remember this password.

    Select OK



     
  10. Once again, select Tools from the menu bar, and then click on Account settings...



     
  11. Select Outgoing Server (SMTP) from the list on the left.

    On the right, if you entered Outgoing Server details in step 5, select the item with mail.webinabox.net.au and press edit. Skip to step 13.

    Alternatively, if you did not enter an Outgoing Server in step 5 and no item with mail.webinabox.net.au exists, select Add 


     
  12. Enter mail.webinabox.net.au under Server Name.

    Then tick Use name and password and fill in your User Name which is your full e-mail address -- email@yourdomain.com



     
  13. Enter 587 under Port to replace the default blank value or 25.

    Tick TLS, if available under Use secure connection:

    Select OK



     
  14. On the right, select the item with mail.webinabox.net.au and press Set Default. If there is only 1 item in the list, it will be greyed out and you can skip this step.



     
  15. Select OK. Your account is now ready for use and you can test your settings by sending an e-mail to yourself.
